MEDIUMS:
Clay

Energy within nature is abounding on the Saskatchewan prairies.  I have many fond memories of being on the land with my grandfather as he farmed on the outskirts of Gravelbourg, a French settlement. The vast open space and the fruit of its bounty is an invitation to experience its mystique.

Early in my life, science was a passion.  Later, my artistic consciousness was awakened while observing nature’s integrated and interconnected phenomena. Clay became my medium of choice, as it more closely represents the archetypes within Mother Earth’s creation.

Wood fired pieces are highly dependent on the clay body and the will of the fire.  Some of the factors at play are surface treatment, exposure to the flame, placement in the kiln and the whims of the wind.  The ash deposit and trapped carbon are the traces of an ancestral spiritual process inherent to nature. Thus through my art, I wish to explore and further understand the flow of nature, its interactive aspects and its relational states which moulds it.
