Valinda Lawson | Meadow Lake, SK
Valinda Lawson started her passion for glasswork with stained glass several decades ago. In 2008, she started to experiment with glass fusion and was soon hooked. The glass has properties that no other medium has, and this always intrigued her. The ability to change the glass’s appearance by layering and then slumping into different chapes has allowed her to create unique, functional, and decorative pieces.
Valinda has honed her craft by taking classes through the U of S Community Arts Program from various SK artists, and travelled to the States to take classes from internationally-known artists. This has allowed her to keep up with the latest techniques and advancements in the field. She thoroughly enjoys bringing these new findings back to her studio in Meadow Lake, where she can put her own distinct spin on them. Valinda is a member of the Saskatoon Glass Workers Guild and is also a juried member of the SK Craft Council.
