Paula Cooley | Saskatoon, SK
Paula Cooley is a clay artist from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan with an active studio practice in both sculptural and functional ceramics. Born and raised in Ontario, Paula moved to the Prairies in 1989 where she was introduced to clay. Fascinated by clay’s endless possibilities, she proceeded to complete her Diploma in Ceramics at SIAST, and then her BFA at the University of Saskatchewan. Paula has continued learning and exploring through residencies at the Banff Centre and the Medalta Artist in Residence Program, as well as participating in four international artist collaborations including the EMMA International Collaboration 2018 and CollaboratioNZ 2017 in New Zealand.
She is an active educator, serving as mentor three times with the Carfac SK Mentorship Program as well as teaching community pottery classes for the past nine years. Her ceramic pieces have been juried into national and international exhibitions including Fireworks 2019, and has pieces in the public collections of Global Affairs Canada, SK Arts Board, and the Mann Gallery.
