Louise Tessier | Regina, SK
Combining her passions for botanical images and the written word, Louise finds great satisfaction in the creation of many different art pieces utilizing her graphic images – applying them to ceramics, paper and textiles.
Once a design is created on paper, it is transferred to a linoleum block, carved and used as a stamp which is impressed into clay slabs. The result is an innovative surface treatment to each of her ceramic tiles. Louise’s work, created in her home studio, is detailed, textural, colourful and reminiscent of the folk art from her Slovakian family roots.
Louise received her BEd (Art & Music) from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. She was born and raised in Leader, SK and has made Regina her home for the past 35 years.
