Harm Maathuis started doing pottery in the early 1980’s after following one class. Subsequently, he got himself a kick-wheel and kiln. Initially he used glaze recipes from a friend of his Dutch family. It was by sheer luck that in the late 80’s he was introduced to the world of crystalline pottery by another Dutch potter.
After a break in the mid-1990’s, he started pottery again in 2018, focusing in particular on high-fired crystalline glazing.
