Charley moved to Canada from France when he was 20. He settled in the Humboldt/Meacham area where he joined other potters as a collective group of artists. One of the earliest members of the Saskatchewan Craft Council, Charley has a long history in the Saskatchewan and Canadian craft communities. He has sat on Boards for the SCC, the Canadian Craft Federation, SaskTerra and the Sask Arts Board.
As an artist, Charley has received much recognition over the years, including a recent Nomination for the Bronfman Award, Canada’s highest honour available to Craft Artisans. Charley has participated in Artist Residencies in China, France and Mexico, and received numerous grants. His work is in such prestigious collections as the Claridge, Saskatchewan Arts Board, Richard Spafford, Mackenzie Art Gallery and the New Canadian Ceramics Museum.
When asked about his art, Charley says, “It speaks for itself.”
