Bernard John Zaharik | Regina, SK
Born and raised in Regina, Bernie received his BA from the University of Regina and his Masters of Social Work from the University of Toronto. He studied pottery at the U of R Extension Division under Helen Rogers and Donovan Chester.
Much of Bernie’s work is hand built out of coloured clay which he mixes himself. Working with coloured clay is difficult and time consuming, but his love of the medium is evident in the fine patterns achieved through marbling, logging, caning, marquetry, feathering, mokume gane and lacing. His glazed work, also on hand-built clay forms, displays some of the finest understanding of glazing techniques in the province. In addition, Bernie often incorporates nature and flower themes.
Bernie currently works out of the Flatlands Artists Studios in Regina.
